I found that a XL size was oversized based based on your measurement guide. My normal shirt size is L which is not tight.

Although this shirt was attractively tailored, I found the size medium shirt to be too large in all dimensions - shoulders, sleeves, chest, waist - and rather blocky in design. I also worried that the fabric would not be very breathable. I ended up returning the two I ordered, which the customer service folks cheerfully refunded.

Using the shirt for sun protection while working on trails in ponderosa pine forest. Seems good so far. Well made. Light and breezy. Collar stands up to protect neck from sun. The only quibble is that the buttons for the button down collar are missing. Button holes are there, but no buttons. No big deal, it’s a work shirt for me.
